For all your (international) calls from the UK, simply use the 18866-prefix. We offer much lower rates than our competitors, check our website for the details.
FAQ
How do I register?
You can register your details and telephone number(s) by clicking
HERE. Once you have completed the registration you will be able to benefit immediately from our amazing rates.
Unfortunately it is only possible to register via the website. We endeavour to keep our costs as low as possible so we can continue to offer the best possible rates. For this reason we have chosen not to have an expensive call centre.
I have registered, but haven't received an email confirmation with my customer number.
Should you not receive our subscription email due to spam filters for example your registration may still have been successful. Please try an hour after registration if you can make calls using 18866. Once you are able to make calls you can find out your customer number by calling 0808 170 170 8.
How do I make a call?
It is very easy to use 18866. Once you have registered your telephone number and payment details you can start using 18866 immediately.

From any BT landline:
Just dial the 18866 Indirect Access code before each call to benefit from our low price tariffs. For example, to call the USA you first dial 18866, (do not pause) then the country code 001, followed by the subscriber number i.e. 18866 001 818 456 4567. Do not wait for a voiceprompt to enter the telephone number; just enter the complete telephone number immediately after dialling 18866.

From non-BT landlines:
Dial 0808 1 701 701, wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number. For example: 0808 1 701 701 -wait for voiceprompt- 001 818 456 4567.

From mobiles*:
Dial 020 81 803 803, wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number. After dialling the follow-on telephone number do NOT press the green "send" button on your mobile again otherwise the call may be carried by your mobile operator!

* 020 calls from mobiles may come out your inclusive free minutes or your mobile operator may charge separately for calls to 020 numbers depending on your operator and tariff plan; please check with your mobile operator for correct rates.

Please note that when you call a local number you should still dial the complete area code and subscriber number i.e. if you are in London and would like to make a call inside London: 18866 020 7210 1234 or 0808 1 701 701 -voiceprompt- 020 7210 1234.
Do I still pay line rental?
Yes you will still pay line rental to BT as usual. Only when you dial 18866 before your call will you be invoiced by Call18866 and not BT.

BT will not charge you for dialling the 18866 code, therefore the 18866 code will not appear on your BT bill. Any calls made without the 18866 code, line rental and select services like call waiting will still be charged by BT.

For non-BT customers using 0808 1 701 701 the principle is the same; you will still pay your line provider for line rental and any other select services, only calls made using the 0808 number will be invoiced by Call18866.

If you are a mobile customer using the 020 81 803 803 number you may also be charged for the 020 call by your mobile provider. 020 calls may come out your inclusive free minutes or your mobile operator may charge separately for calls to 020 numbers depending on your operator and tariff plan; please check with your mobile operator for correct rates.
How much will I be charged for my calls?
Calls are subject to a connection fee of only 5p . You will therefore be charged 5p plus the applicable tariff for the destination you are calling calculated in minutes and rounded to the nearest penny. Apart from that there are no other charges; no subscription, registration, administration or any other charges!
I made a 5 minute call abroad at 3p per minute, but have been charged more than 10p. How is this possible?
18866 calls are subject to a connection fee of 5p. A 5 minute call to a destination charged at 3p per minute will therefore cost 5p connection + 15p call charges = 20p.
When do call charges take effect?
Call charges take effect once you are connected to the telephone number you have dialled i.e once the call has been answered. If there is no answer or the line is engaged you will not be charged for the call.
Are there peak and off-peak rates?
Most rates are applicable 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. Some destinations have peak and off-peak rates which will be indicated by * behind the tariff. Further information about variable * rates can be found at the bottom of the rates page.
How can I be certain at which tariff I will be charged?
Before each call you make the operator will inform you of the call charges per minute for the destination you are calling. This tariff message is free of charge, therefore if you hang up before your call is connected, you will not be charged a penny.
The advertised tariff is different than the tariff message. Which one is correct?
The tariff message played before each call is always correct. It is possible that the tariff message differs from the charges on our website or other publications due to special offers. In these cases, the free tariff message is always the correct tariff.
How can 18866 keep their rates so low?
We always try to offer the best prices possible and 18866 constantly aims to negotiate better deals with suppliers to pass this discount on to our customers! By buying in bulk from major carriers and using state of the art technology 18866 is able to significantly undercut BT and other international call providers. In addition, low overheads and a no frills approach enable our customers to benefit even more.
I think I have been charged incorrectly
18866 calls are subject to a connection fee of 5p. A 10 minute call to a destination charged at 3p per minute will therefore cost 5p connection + 30p call charges = 35p.

Also bear in mind that you may have called an international mobile number without realising; calls to mobile numbers are usually more expensive. Please listen carefully to the free tariff message played before each call you make. The tariff message is the exact rate you will be charged plus the 5p connection fee. This tariff message is free of charge, therefore if you hang up before your call is connected, you will not be charged a penny. You can also check our
pricelist (for calls from BT lines). Please also note there is a separate pricelist for NTL, Telewest, other non-BT landline and mobile customers. For all rates from non-BT lines please click here.

If you are calling from a mobile using the 020 number you may also be charged for the 020 call by your mobile provider. 020 calls may come out your inclusive free minutes or your mobile operator may charge separately for calls to 020 numbers depending on your operator and tariff plan; please check with your mobile operator for correct rates.
Can I call a destination not included in your country list?
Unfortunately not at the moment. Only destinations which we are able to offer at discounted rates are included in our destinations list. Therefore, if the country you wish to call is not included in the list, we do not offer it yet. To stay informed of all new destinations and price deals please subscribe to our
newsletter.
In the mean time we would recommend using Telediscount for destinations we do not yet offer.
Am I able to use 18866 if I'm with Talk Talk, NTL or Telewest?
Yes! Once you have registered your telephone number and payment details you can start using Call18866 immediately. From non-BT landlines just dial 0808 1 701 701, wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number. For example: 0808 1 701 701 -wait for voiceprompt- 001 818 456 4567.
Or from mobiles* dial 020 81 803 803, wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number.
Am I able to use 18866 if I am already registered with Alpha or Onetel?
Yes, you can. If you normally dial another Indirect Access code before your calls (for example 1833 for Alpha telecom or 1877 for Onetel) you simply omit this code and just dial 18866 or 0808 1 701 701 instead. If you are using a router box (also known as Phone.Pal) you can either unplug the router box or dial 1-2-1 (or whichever override code is provided by your service provider) to bypass your router box followed by 18866.
Should you have chosen to have all your calls automatically routed through another provider (also known as Carrier Pre-Select or CPS) you will still be able to use 18866 as usual. Just
sign up and dial 18866 followed by the telephone number to make cheaper calls! Your CPS provider will not charge you for dialling the 18866 code, therefore the 18866 code will not appear on your CPS bill and any calls made using the 18866 code will only be invoiced by Call18866.
I got the message I'm on a BT light user scheme
You cannot make use of Call18866 if you are on a BT light user scheme. You will have to contact BT to cancel your light user scheme. Even if you have already cancelled your light user scheme with BT but you still get the message you are on a light user scheme, you will have to press BT to reset your line. BT often refers these problems back to us but these calls do not even reach our network so there really is nothing we can do to fix this. Unfortunately you will have to keep going at BT yourself insisting they fix the problem for you!
What do I do when I'm still unhappy?
If it's been eight weeks since you complained and we haven't been able to sort things out, you can refer your complaint to Ombudsman Services: Communications. It's a free, independent service for customers who aren't satisfied with the final outcome of their complaints. You can find out more on their website: www.ombudsman-services.org
My calls are automatically routed through another provider, but I pay line rental to BT. Can I still use 18866?
To have all your calls automatically routed through another provider is also known as Carrier Pre-Select (CPS). You will still be able to use 18866 as usual and this will not affect your CPS subscription. Just
sign up and dial 18866 followed by the telephone number to make cheaper calls! Your CPS provider will not charge you for dialling the 18866 code, therefore the 18866 code will not appear on your CPS bill and any calls made using the 18866 code will only be invoiced by Call18866.
I use a router box from another provider. Can I still use 18866?
Yes you can. You could either unplug the router box or dial 1-2-1 (or whichever override code is provided by your service provider) to bypass your router box followed by 18866 and the telephone number you wish to call.
I live abroad. Can I still use your service?
Unfortunately we do not run a service outside the UK and our organisation does not have plans to venture outside the UK within the near future. Only customers in the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland can register for our service.
Can I register for a pre-select system whereby all my calls will automatically go through 18866?

However, depending on the make of your telephone you can programme the 18866 prefix before the speed dial numbers stored on your telephone. Some newer model telephones even let you just programme the 18866 code so each call you make will automatically prefixed with our access code. Please check your telephone manual how to programme speed dial numbers.
Can a company (with or without switchboard) sign up?

However, depending on the make of your telephone you can programme the 18866 prefix before the speed dial numbers stored on your telephone.
